Biden Gets Devastating Re-Election News
In the most recent poll conducted by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, it was revealed that Georgia voters exhibit a preference for former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 election matchup. The survey, conducted from January 3-11, involved 1,007 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
According to the poll results, Trump secures 45% support, surpassing Biden, who garnered 37% in the crucial battleground state of Georgia. The sentiments expressed by voters reflect a range of opinions, with one example being Bob Monett, a 75-year-old Georgian, acknowledging Trump’s rough edges but expressing concern that Biden is perceived as weak on the world stage. Monett believes that Trump is the candidate needed to protect the country’s interests.
It’s noteworthy that Biden had secured Georgia, a historically red state, in the 2020 general election by a margin of fewer than 12,000 votes, signaling a shift in the political landscape. However, the current poll indicates challenges for Biden, including soft support among Democrat and independent voters. Alarmingly, 10% of Black voters surveyed mentioned that they do not plan to vote in the upcoming race for the White House.
Biden’s struggles in Georgia are further compounded by his low job approval ratings. The latest ABC News/Ipsos poll reports a 33% approval rating for Biden, the lowest since President George W. Bush’s ratings in 2006-2008. The disapproval rating stands at 58%. In Georgia, a significant 62% of registered voters express criticism of the president’s job performance, with a slim majority strongly disapproving.
Among independent voters in the state, Biden faces a 54% disapproval rate and a 37% approval rate. Black voters are divided, with 45.5% approving of Biden’s job performance and 44.1% disapproving. The AJC poll also coincided with Trump’s decisive victory in the Iowa caucuses, marking the beginning of the GOP primary season.
Interestingly, the poll reveals that 20% of Republican voters in Georgia either do not plan on supporting Trump or remain undecided. Overall, 6% of Georgia voters are undecided, 6% express the intention not to vote, and 7% plan to vote for a third-party candidate. A striking 73% of Georgia voters believe that the U.S. is headed down the “wrong track,” while only 15.9% think the country is moving in the right direction.
It’s essential to note the evolution in public sentiment since the previous AJC poll two months ago, which indicated a statistical tie between Trump and Biden. However, that earlier survey focused on likely voters and might not have captured the perspective of Georgians who declared they would not vote in the upcoming election. The current poll provides valuable insights into the shifting dynamics of political preferences among Georgia voters.
