Is Haley’s run officially over?

Following her defeat in the South Carolina primary to Donald Trump by a significant margin of 20.3 percentage points on February 24, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley faced mounting pressure from Republicans across the country to abandon her bid for the Republican presidential nomination. Despite calls for her to withdraw, Haley remained steadfast in her pursuit, refusing to concede defeat.

Representative Andrew Clyde, a Republican from Georgia, expressed skepticism about Haley’s prospects, predicting that her campaign would meet its end following Super Tuesday, during which 35% of Republican delegates would be allocated across 15 states. Clyde, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, shared his views on Newsmax’s “American Agenda,” asserting that Haley’s loss in the South Carolina primary essentially sealed her fate. He confidently asserted that Super Tuesday would serve as the final blow to her aspirations.

Looking ahead, Clyde emphasized the importance of rallying behind President Trump as the Republican candidate, particularly highlighting Trump’s leadership on issues concerning the southern border. In Clyde’s assessment, the crisis at the border, exacerbated by the influx of illegal immigrants during President Biden’s tenure, stands as the paramount concern for Americans.

Clyde questioned President Biden’s inaction on border security, citing the alarming consequences such as the loss of American lives due to illegal immigration and the spread of dangerous substances like fentanyl. He underscored the urgency for legislative action, advocating for measures like H.R. 2, also known as the Secure the Border Act, to be swiftly passed and implemented. Clyde called upon Congress to prioritize border security by attaching H.R. 2 to funding bills sent to the Senate, emphasizing the need for immediate solutions to address the crisis.

In Clyde’s view, President Biden possesses the necessary authority to address the border situation effectively, yet he has failed to take decisive action, leading Clyde to conclude that Biden’s inaction reflects a deliberate choice to allow the ongoing “invasion” at the southern border.
