Here’s what they are planning…

A faction within the Republican party, known for its opposition to Donald Trump, is preparing to allocate a significant budget of $50 million toward thwarting the former president’s potential reelection bid.

Under the banner of Republican Voters Against Trump, this group intends to disseminate testimonial videos featuring individuals who previously supported Trump but now adamantly oppose his return to the White House. Spearheading this initiative is Sarah Longwell, a seasoned Republican strategist with a track record of vocal opposition to Trump. Their strategy revolves around targeting moderate Republicans and Republican-leaning voters in key swing states through a barrage of video content.

This approach mirrors their tactics from the 2020 election, where over 1,000 testimonials were shared, contributing to Joe Biden’s victory. The upcoming campaign will utilize a mix of traditional and digital media platforms, including television, streaming services, billboards, radio, and online channels. The battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are set to be the primary focus of this effort.

Longwell asserts that the coalition formed against Trump in 2020 played a pivotal role in the election’s outcome and believes that broadening its demographic reach in 2024 could similarly influence the results. As the president of the group’s Republican Accountability PAC, Longwell emphasizes the importance of connecting with former Republicans and Republican-leaning voters through credible and relatable messengers.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Longwell outlined the objective of establishing a narrative that portrays Trump as too perilous and erratic to hold the presidency again, irrespective of any grievances against Biden. The testimonials featured in the campaign primarily highlight the turning points that led individuals to withdraw their support for Trump, rather than extolling Biden’s virtues or advocating for his reelection.

For instance, one Wisconsin resident named Ethan, who previously voted for Trump in 2020, expresses his disillusionment following the events of January 6th, labeling it as the definitive moment that severed his allegiance to the former president. Ethan now intends to cast his vote for Biden, citing the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power as a cornerstone of democracy that Trump’s actions jeopardized.
