Adam Schiff is not happy.
Representative Adam Schiff of California has offered counsel to President Joe Biden, suggesting he seek advice beyond his immediate circle on whether to continue his presidential campaign against former President Donald Trump. Speaking on NBC News’s Meet the Press, Schiff expressed concern over Biden’s recent debate performance and its aftermath.
Schiff refrained from directly recommending Biden step down, emphasizing that the decision ultimately rests with the president. He highlighted the importance of seeking perspectives from trusted individuals outside his inner circle to gain objective insights.
“It’s crucial that he hears from voices beyond his immediate circle,” Schiff advised. “While family input is essential, he should also consult with independent pollsters to inform his decision-making process. Whatever his conclusion, if he chooses to run, he should do so vigorously and decisively.”
The congressman underscored that age has emerged as a significant issue for voters following the debate, noting Biden’s missed opportunity to decisively lead against Trump, particularly in light of Trump’s legal troubles.
“With Biden’s strong track record and Trump’s controversial tenure, Biden should be comfortably ahead,” Schiff remarked. “The fact that it’s even a close race can be attributed to one factor.”
Schiff, who appears poised to secure a Senate seat from California in the upcoming elections, expressed confidence in Biden’s ability to make the right decision regarding his candidacy.
“I believe President Biden will make a decision based on consultation and thoughtful deliberation,” Schiff affirmed. “Throughout his career, he has consistently chosen what he believes is best for the nation, and I trust he will do so in this instance.”
Pressure has mounted on Biden to reconsider his candidacy following the contentious Atlanta debate with Trump. Several House Democrats have called for Biden to step aside, and there are reports of ongoing discussions among additional lawmakers about the president’s future in the race.
