Trump Insider Calls Out Biden’s Cowardice
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Mike Pompeo, the former Secretary of State and CIA Director during the Trump administration, voiced criticism against President Joe Biden’s handling of Iran, stating that it has come back to “haunt” the United States. Pompeo specifically highlighted the delayed decision by the Biden administration to reinclude Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen on the list of global terrorist organizations. This decision followed the rebels’ targeting of U.S. military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea using rockets and drones.
During the Trump administration, the Houthis were designated as a global terrorist organization, but early in Biden’s tenure, they were removed from the list to ease the delivery of humanitarian aid to Yemen. Pompeo contested this rationale, labeling it a “fraud” and underscoring that the terrorist designation statute includes provisions for humanitarian assistance.
Pompeo, who has contemplated a run for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, attributed the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and the October 7, 2023, assault by Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists in southern Israel to Biden’s Iran policies. Expressing concern, he emphasized the “very serious risk” of failing to confront and acknowledge the existence of evil.
The Houthi attacks in the Red Sea commenced in response to Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Subsequently, the rebels have launched multiple attacks on merchant vessels traversing the Red Sea, a vital shipping lane, and on U.S. military vessels. In response, the U.S. military conducted strikes targeting Houthi anti-ship missiles deemed an imminent threat to shipping and U.S. Navy vessels in the region.
Pompeo disclosed his upcoming participation as a speaker at the Steamboat Institute’s Foreign Policy Summit in Colorado. He intends to address the foremost foreign policy challenges confronting the Biden administration and propose potential solutions. Despite the challenges, Pompeo expressed confidence that with collective determination, Americans can rectify the issues at hand.
