Trump’s Hush Money Case Takes Another Turn
In the upcoming criminal hush money trial involving former President Donald Trump, another crucial witness is set to take the stand: Hope Hicks.
Hicks, a former White House communications director and close aide to Trump, has previously provided testimony to a grand jury investigation regarding allegations of Trump’s involvement in interference with the 2020 election. According to a report from MSNBC, she has affirmed her intention to testify in the Manhattan trial.
Scheduled to commence with jury selection on April 15, Trump’s trial revolves around accusations that he utilized his former attorney and confidant, Michael Cohen, to conceal an alleged extramarital affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Alongside Hicks, Cohen and Daniels are expected to be prominent witnesses during the proceedings. The trial is anticipated to span between six to eight weeks, with sessions scheduled every day except Wednesdays throughout this period. Trump is mandated to be present for the entirety of the trial, in accordance with courtroom regulations for defendants.
In a recent development, Trump attempted to block Cohen and Daniels from providing testimony, arguing that their accounts lacked credibility. However, this effort was rebuffed by New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, who ruled against Trump’s motion.
