Haley is in the danger zone now.
Billionaire Reid Hoffman has decided against further contributions to Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign, according to an individual familiar with his choice, as reported by CNBC.
Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and a prominent Democratic donor, had previously donated $250,000 to a super PAC supporting Haley last month. The motivation behind this decision was expressed by Hoffman in response to concerns over the potential return of former President Donald Trump to the GOP ballot in the 2024 election.
Addressing the challenges of the upcoming election, Hoffman emphasized the issue of a candidate running on the premise that the 2020 election was fraudulent, likening it to a significant falsehood. In an interview with Barron’s in early December, Hoffman drew parallels between Trump’s tactics and the propaganda strategies of Joseph Goebbels in Nazi Germany, describing them as detrimental to American democracy. Despite disagreements with some of Haley’s policies, Hoffman underscored her commitment to American democracy and the rule of law, expressing support for her as an American institutionalist.
Following Trump’s victory in New Hampshire’s Republican presidential contest, moving him closer to a potential rematch with Democratic President Joe Biden in November, Haley, a former South Carolina governor, remained determined to continue her campaign. In response to the election results, she declared the race far from over and asserted her resilience as a fighter. Haley challenged Trump to a debate, emphasizing her determination to stand against him as the last candidate standing next to Donald Trump.
The decision by Reid Hoffman not to contribute further to Nikki Haley’s campaign adds a layer of complexity to the evolving dynamics of the 2024 presidential race, reflecting concerns over Trump’s potential influence within the GOP.
