Is The 2024 Election The Most Important Election In History?

Newsom Attempts To Rally Democrats Ahead Of Election

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, expressed admiration for President Joe Biden and celebrated the Democratic Party’s success in recent elections as South Carolina geared up for its first-in-the-nation Democratic primary.

During an interview with MSNBC’s Alex Wagner in The Palmetto State, Newsom enthusiastically discussed the commencement of the 2024 election season, emphasizing the Democrats’ relief from the constant coverage of the Trump-centric primary debates.

“Here we are, just getting started – Democrats are up,” Newsom exclaimed. “Isn’t it refreshing? We don’t have to endure the 24/7 Trump show dominating the primary, setting the terms of debate. Now, we’re hitting the campaign trail.”

While the South Carolina Democratic primary is scheduled for February 3, the Republican primary is set for February 24, with early ballot submissions open this weekend for voters of any party affiliation.

Newsom underscored the significance of the Democratic primary season, applauding the party’s track record of success. “This is our forte; Democrats excel at this. Look at our victories; we keep outperforming. It’s remarkable – Democrats, take a moment to congratulate yourselves,” he urged.

Highlighting recent Democratic wins, Newsom pointed out the failure of Republicans to deliver on their promised red wave in the 2022 midterms and highlighted key victories in the 2023 elections. Notably, Virginia Democrats successfully defended their state’s Senate majority and flipped the House of Delegates, countering Governor Glenn Youngkin’s (R-VA) attempts to advance GOP legislation.

“Our message is resonating. Our values are truly American and universal, and even Republicans reluctantly acknowledge and accept our policies,” Newsom asserted.

Responding to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s State of the State address, where he emphasized electric vehicle investments supported by Democrats and Biden, Newsom commended Democratic policies that benefit all citizens. He noted the irony of those who opposed such initiatives benefiting from Democratic-driven progress.

“Isn’t it interesting? Even those who resisted, sitting there with Trump, can’t help but benefit from our policies. That’s the character and decency of the Democratic Party – we support everyone, regardless of their stance in the election,” Newsom remarked.
