Kamala is making Republican voters angrier.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Vice President Kamala Harris shared her thoughts on the conviction of former President Donald Trump, responding with humor to the outcome.
Harris joined Jimmy Kimmel on his show Tuesday, where they covered a range of topics, with a significant focus on the 2024 election. A key moment was her reaction to Trump’s conviction on 34 felony charges related to hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.
“To put things in perspective,” Harris began, “a jury of twelve citizens deliberated over six weeks, reviewing all the evidence and facts, and unanimously found him guilty on 34 felony counts.”
She continued, “The defense had every opportunity to participate fully in the trial, from selecting the jury to cross-examining witnesses. The jury then made their informed decision.”
“The truth is, people who cheat don’t enjoy being caught,” she remarked, eliciting laughter and applause from the audience, “and they certainly dislike being held accountable.”
Throughout the interview, Harris laughed along with Kimmel’s comments, especially when he joked about voters preferring a president who can travel overseas without legal restrictions.
“The American people want to trust that their president sees themselves as accountable to the people,” she emphasized.
This appearance marked the first time Harris publicly addressed Trump’s conviction. Her comments came on the heels of President Joe Biden’s remarks during a speech to donors in Connecticut, where he also addressed Trump’s legal situation.
“For the first time in our history, a former president, now a convicted felon, is running for office again,” Biden said. “But what’s more concerning is Trump’s ongoing attack on the American justice system.”
These comments from Biden are among his initial public statements regarding Trump’s legal issues, highlighting the administration’s careful approach to avoid appearing directly involved in the legal proceedings against Trump.
