This is a terrible look for President Biden.

The recent discourse from former President Donald Trump’s team has highlighted a narrative suggesting that migrants stranded in Mexico harbor a preference for Joe Biden’s reelection bid. This viewpoint, echoed by the Trump Make America Great Again PAC, draws from a report in the New York Post. According to the PAC, the newspaper’s article published on Friday indicates that undocumented immigrants are inclined towards supporting Biden for a second term.

The insights shared in the New York Post originate from interviews conducted by The Free Press with migrants awaiting entry across the southern border. Among those interviewed, Richard Betancourt, a 46-year-old pipefitter from Venezuela, expressed skepticism about his chances under a Trump administration, stating, “If it’s Trump, it doesn’t matter how much I work or want to work. They won’t let me in.” Similarly, Daniel Cortez, a 45-year-old mechanic from Honduras, voiced his preference for Biden while waiting in Matamoros, Mexico.

Immigration has emerged as a pivotal issue as the election approaches, resonating strongly with many Americans who perceive it as the foremost challenge confronting the nation, as per a Gallup poll released in February. The escalating influx of migrants at the border has strained resources in several major cities, including Denver, Chicago, New York, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C., exacerbating financial pressures, as reported by Axios.

The Save America PAC reinforced its stance by citing Rodney Scott, who served as Border Patrol chief during both the Trump and Biden administrations. Scott, speaking on Fox News in February, criticized Biden’s approach to border security, asserting, “We handed them the most secure border in the history of the United States and a roadmap to keep it that way and make it even better. Through 94 executive actions, President Biden completely destroyed border security.”
