Was There More World Peace When Trump Was In Charge?

Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Loss Still Haunts Democrats

Representative Jim Clyburn, a Democrat from South Carolina, recently voiced his apprehension regarding President Joe Biden’s potential reelection bid, drawing parallels to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and citing concerns over the influence of misinformation.

Appearing on Velshi, Clyburn reiterated his worries about Biden’s prospects for a second term. Back in January, he had expressed fears about a lack of support from black voters for Biden, despite a USA Today poll indicating that 63% of black voters currently back the president. Nevertheless, Clyburn noted a decline from previous years’ stronger support within the Democratic Party.

Reflecting on the impact of misinformation, Clyburn underscored its role in altering election outcomes, suggesting that without it, Hillary Clinton might have won the presidency. He emphasized the importance of an informed electorate, irrespective of race, in making decisions crucial to the democratic process.

In his remarks, Clyburn insinuated former President Donald Trump’s involvement in the January 6th Capitol riots and the push to overturn Roe v. Wade. Conversely, he praised Biden’s initiatives, including efforts to alleviate student loan debt, advancing the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and steering the economy toward recovery.

Regarding voter demographics, the Pew Research Center anticipates an increase in the share of black voters from 13.5% in 2020 to 14% in 2024. However, commentator Bill Maher noted a rising trend in multiracial identification among voters, adding complexity to electoral dynamics.

At 83 years old, Representative Clyburn faces reelection in November, underscoring the stakes not only for national politics but also for his own political future.
