Biden Caught Colluding With Who?
This week, the Biden administration faced allegations from Republicans of collaborating with anti-gun organizations.
On Friday, the Republican-majority House Oversight Committee revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that they are investigating possible cooperation between the Biden Administration and plaintiffs opposing the Second Amendment, including the city of Chicago, in ongoing litigation against Glock, Inc.
The Oversight Committee noted that Glock is a major supplier of firearms for both civilian and law enforcement use in the United States, with approximately 65% of law enforcement agencies relying on Glocks as their main sidearm. The plaintiffs aim to financially penalize and restrict the operations of the firearm manufacturer due to illegal aftermarket modifications made by criminals after the guns have been legally sold.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer wrote to the White House Office on Gun Violence Prevention, explaining that the investigation arose from a lawsuit filed by the city of Chicago and Everytown Law, a pro-gun control group. The lawsuit accuses Glock of knowingly selling pistols that can be converted into fully automatic weapons.
Earlier in the month, President Biden spoke at Everytown’s Gun Sense University, highlighting his administration’s measures to reduce gun violence. He emphasized a significant drop in murder rates, stating, “One year ago, we saw one of the lowest rates of violent crime in 50 years. Murder, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery all declined sharply, along with burglary and property crime.”
Biden also mentioned the administration’s success in making gun trafficking and straw purchasing federal crimes for the first time, providing prosecutors with enhanced legal tools to address these issues.
However, the Oversight Committee claims that the White House had “private” meetings with Glock Inc. officials, urging the company to make it more difficult for “auto-sear” parts to be installed. These parts, manufactured by third parties, convert semi-automatic pistols into fully automatic weapons, violating the National Firearms Act (NFA).
In his letter, Comer requested documentation and communication records between the White House, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and Everytown for Gun Safety regarding this matter.
